Clara B. Carleton Heskett, 98, of Bethesda, Ohio passed from this earth Saturday, May 21, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 4, 1924 in Beallsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late John Wilson and Maggie Jane Dyer Dennis.
Clara was a retired employee of the Union Local School District where she worked as a cook and a kitchen aide. She remained active well into her 80's making wooden crafts and also helping her daughter and son-in-law with their concession trailer. She was an avid country music fan and enjoyed attending concerts with family and friends.
Clara was baptized into the Church of Christ at the early age of 12. She remained a faithful Christian 86 of her 98 years. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant!" She loved being around people but her greatest joy came from spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by husbands, Otto F. Carleton and Clarence "Buck" Heskett; three brothers, Freddie, Ray, and Johnnie Dennis; five sisters, Laure Mae Dennis, Hazel Moore, Mary Luke, Pearl Cree, and Hilda West; a son-in-law, Jerry Roth.
Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Judy Roth of Woodsfield, Ohio, Edward (LaDonna) Carleton of Beallsville, Ohio, Ruth (Jim) Mayhugh of Bethesda, Ohio, Dennis Carleton (Linda Grimm) with whom she resided in Bethesda, and Mary Jane (Jack) Blake of Belmont, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; also a special niece, Betty Moore of Barnesville.
Visitation will be Monday, May 23, from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24 at 11am with Clara's grandson, Brent Roth officiating. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery.
Clara's family would like to offer a special "thank-you" to Amedisys Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to their mother through these last weeks.
