Frances Jean (Smith) McDougal

Frances Jean Smith McDougal, 87, of Beallsville, Ohio went to be with the Lord Monday, April 18 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born May 27, 1934, in Powhatan, Ohio a daughter of the late Edward and Lula Totten Smith. 

Frances enjoyed reading and watching Wheel of Fortune, but her greatest joy in life came from raising her children and spending time with her family.  She was a Christian by faith and a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary of Powhatan. 

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Paula (Ike) Otto of Beallsville, Debbie McDougal, of Lakeland, Florida, Barbara (Frank) Price of New Martinsville, and Steve (Babbette) McDougal of McArthur, Ohio; her twin brother, Frank Smith of Hernando, Florida; two sisters, Ethel Bartholomew of Lake Milton, Ohio and Vivian Norris of Millersburg, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter to be born in August; also several nieces and nephews. 

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 32 years, Paul E. McDougal; a granddaughter, Mandy Michelle McCracken; two sisters, Thelma Stout and Kathryn Hartley; two brothers, Edward and Everett Smith.  A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Frances’s family would like to offer a special, “thank-you” to Stonerise Hospice of St. Clairsville for the wonderful care and compassion given to Francis and the entire family during this difficult time.
