John S. Smith, 80, of Beallsville, Ohio and most recently a resident of Emerald Pointe Health and Rehab Center, died Sunday, May 15, 2022 in Barnesville Hospital. He was born April 5, 1942 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Foster and Cora Mehl Smith.
John was a retired employee of Consol Energy and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 132.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Judy Reed Smith on January 31, 2017 also by a grandson, John S. Smith, III, on February 2, 2020.
Left to cherish his memory are five children, Rhonda (Chris) Miller of Waterford, Renee (Shawn) Crum, John (Michele) Smith, Nicole (Alan) Boughner, Chana (Steve) Johnson, all of Beallsville; 15 grandchildren Cassie (Dugan) Demchak, Michael (Sarah) Aberegg, Matthew (Abby) Aberegg, Carrie (Daniel) Dick, Brett Edwards, Sydney Crawford (Manny DeJesus), Trystan Crawford (Morgan Strickler), Tyler (Alyson) Brown, Derek (Chelsea) Brown, Pazeley Crum (Jarrett Raab), Chelsea Smith, Reed Smith, Drake Boughner, Braden Johnson, Owen Johnson, also a grandchild to be born on November 24th; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Smith of Clarington; two nephews, Rob Smith and Ric Smith; a niece, Cinda Hutchison; also many friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 17 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18 at 11am with Wayne Clark presiding. Interment follows in Beallsville Cemetery.
