Aaron Isaac McDermott Jr, lovingly known as "Grandpa Mac," 85, of Evensville, TN, formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, June 17, 2011, at his home. For the last 22 years he served as a missionary with Amazing Grace Missions traveling to fairs and festivals all across the United States witnessing for our Lord Jesus Christ. His favorite verse was, "He that winneth souls is wise..." Proverbs 11:30. Mac was born January 4, 1926, in Cleveland, OH a son of the late Aaron I. and Ethyl Creamer McDermott. He graduated from Powhatan High School and he was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He worked for Lenox Heating and Air Conditioning for a number of years, then in shipping and receiving for various companies. When he retired from public work at the age of 62, he enrolled and graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a diploma in Bible. After graduation he joined AGM and began the ministry of winning the lost. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie B. Berisford McDermott. Surviving are two daughters, Brenda (Paul) Bennett of Barnesville, Ohio and Patti (David) Pyles of Beallsville, Ohio; five grandchildren Jeffrey, Jeremiah, Mandy, Lisa, Leah; nine great grandchildren, Emily, Ezry, Seth, Abigail, Noah, Lynneah, Hannah, Samuel and Benjamin; a sister, Betty Sue Doty of Dayton, Ohio. Mac was a devoted father and grandfather and he will be sadly missed. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville. Visitation will then be held Tuesday at East Sunsbury Baptist Church, Beallsville from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in East Sunsbury Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 768. In lieu of flowers, Mac's family requests that memorial contributions be made to Amazing Grace Missions, PO Box 289, Dayton, TN 37321.
