Betty Sue Truex, 82, of Loudonville, Ohio and formerly of the Beallsville Community, died Tuesday evening, May 21, 2019 in Sycamore Run Nursing Home, Millersburg, Ohio where she had been a resident for the past six years. She was born Sept. 29, 1936 in Belmont County, a daughter of the late Glen and Alta May Reed Truex. She lived in the northern Monroe County area on the family farm most of her life, assisting with the day to day farm chores before moving to Loudonville 20 years ago. Following her mother's diagnosis of cancer, both she and Alta began running near the family farm as a form of exercise. In the years to follow, both ladies increased their daily runs for exercise to the point of becoming long-distance runners who were known throughout the entire Ohio Valley for their participation in area distance races including the grueling Elby's Distance Race. Betty Sue was a member of the Jerusalem Church of Christ and attended the Ashland Church of Christ. Surviving are nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Maxine Truex of Marietta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Clyde Truex; also by one sister, Ruth Van Dyne. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM in East Sunsbury Cemetery near Beallsville. The Lindsey Funeral Home of Loudonville is assisting the family with arrangements.
