Carl B. Secrest, 86, of Beallsville, Ohio died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born June 21, 1928 near Centerville, Ohio, a son of the late Herbert and Mamie Ward Secrest. Carl was a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean War and a retired dozer operator in area strip mines for many years. He was an active member of the East Sunsbury Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Mullen Secrest on June 2, 2013; three sisters, Mildred Milhoan, Betty Baun, and Jessie Johnson, an infant sister, Helen; also a great grandson, Nolan Caldwell. Surviving are three children, Joan (Tom) Kirkland of Woodsfield, Joyce (Tim) Caldwell, and Marvin (Misty) Secrest, both of Beallsville; nine grandchildren, Courtney (Keith) Kresge, Christopher (Erica) Caldwell, Stephanie (Al) Novena, Steve (Anne) Kirklan, Bryan (Suzy) Kirkland, Sarah (Matt) Tippie, Dustin Kirkland, Stacia, and Dalton Secrest; seven great grandchildren, Ethan, Haley, Ellie, Lucy, Claire, Carson, and Mya; one brother, Cecil (Teresa) Secrest and one sister, Joann Marr, both of Canton. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 PM until 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville. Funeral services with Pastor Max Robinson officiating will be conducted Friday at 11 AM at East Sunsbury Baptist Church near Beallsville where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Burial follows in Beallsville Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 768. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Sunsbury Baptist Church Missions Program.
