Clurney Reed Obituary

Clurney "Ed" Reed, 83, of Beallsville passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling. He was born May 28, 1929 in Monroe County, a son of the late Clurney and Lydia Carpenter Reed. Ed was a retired employee of Blaney Lumber and a farmer, also a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Post 768. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Gates Reed on December 27, 2004; an infant son, Todd; and five sisters, Vivian Gillespie, Lou McLaughlin, Martha Rosso, Eva Decker, and Harriet Gross. Surviving are three sons, Tim Reed (Dixie Lucas) and Terry Reed, both of Beallsville, and Eddie (Julie) Reed of Flushing; two daughters, Tammy (Sam) Horvath of Richmond, and Debbie Reed of LA; two sisters, Fern Ackerman and Shirley Headley, both of Woodsfield; four grandchildren, Shardae Reed, Aimee Horvath, Steven and Rachel Reed; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Reed; several nieces and nephews. Visitation Tuesday 6 to 9 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM with Jeff Rich officiating. Burial follows in Beallsville Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 768.
