Paulina Denelle Bates Kinney, 67, of Jerusalem, Ohio passed away Friday, April 24, 2026 in WVU Wheeling Hospital. She was born September 20, 1958 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late Sylvester “Bert” and Emma Rachel Mercer Bates.
Denelle had been a nurse for many years having retired from the Arbors at Woodsfield. In her spare time she enjoyed caring for her flowers and plants and traveling; however her main focus, her real love, was always first and foremost, her family. Denelle’s greatest joy came from simply spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 47 years, Charles E. “Chuck” Kinney whom she married on July 22, 1978; two children. Chad (Jessica) Kinney of Fairview and Whitney Kinney of Jerusalem; the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Lilly and Jameson Kinney of Fairview; a brother Eric (Tonya) Bates of Chiefland, Florida; a special cousin/“sister,” Thalia Kahrig of Miltonsburg; her mother-in-law, Virginia Kinney of Beallsville; also her beloved fur buddies, Juby and Ruger.
Honoring Denelle’s wishes, no services will be held. Her care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home - Harper Chapel.
