Monday, February 29, 2016, Dr. Donald R. Piatt, passed from his earthly physical body to a spiritual body while a patient in the Arbors at Woodsfield. He was born October 29, 1938 in Woodsfield, Ohio, the only son of the late Rome and Freda Craig Piatt. The retired area physician and Beallsville resident was a graduate of Woodsfield High School, Marietta College, and The Ohio State University College of Medicine; a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served as a search and rescue physician, then also as the physician for the Navy Blue Angels during the last nine months of his military career. He was a member of the Beallsville Church of Christ, the American Medical Association, and The Ohio State Medical Association. Dr. Piatt served as a Family Practice Physician in Woodsfield for 35 years and as Monroe County Coroner for over 25 years. Left to mourn his passing are are his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Mary Jane Starkey Piatt, several cousins, his church family, and the people of the communities he served. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, his compassion, and his dedication. Friends will be received Thursday, March 3 from 2 PM to 8 PM at the Church of Christ, Beallsville where funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 4 at 11 AM with Minister Jeff Rich officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
