Ethel E. Mellott Carpenter, 97, of Ashland, Ohio, formerly of Jerusalem, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at her home. She was born January 15, 1925 in Ozark, Ohio, a daughter of the late James and Julia Shaw Mellott. Ethel was a seamstress and a homemaker; a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church and the former Pythian Sisters Lodge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Carpenter; a daughter, Donna Adams; a step-son, Lloyd Carpenter; a grandson, Lloyd Carpenter, Jr., and a great-grandson, Alex Quinn; sisters, Clara Weaver, Mary Mellott, Anna Saffle, Edna Connor, Martha McDougal, and Wilda Koloski; brothers John, Charles, and Raymond Eickleberry.
Surviving are daughters, Joyce Thompson (Bill Cahill), Jean Thompson, Brenda Cook, and Debra (Rick) Holstein; a step-daughter, Charlotte (Mike) Ferguson; a step-son, Fred (Rochelle) Carpenter; a sister-in-law, Geneva Hendershot; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 25 at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2pm with Pastor Jean Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery
