Ferne Lucille Hendershot

Ferne Lucille Hendershot, 91, of Beallsville, Ohio died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in Astoria Place of Barnesville. She was born January 17,1926 near Beallsville, a daughter of the late Herman and Bessie Shriver Truex. She was a member of the Captina Church of Christ and a retired custodian for the Switzerland of Ohio School District. In addition to her parents, Ferne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a son, Dale; two brothers, Vernon Truex and Roger Truex; and two sisters, Mary Boughner and Anna Lee Book. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Sharon Hendershot of Barnesville; three grandchildren, Ricky (Becky) Hendershot of Waterford, Kristy Hendershot of Barnesville, and Karen (Brian) Berga of New Matamoras; three great-grandchildren, Brianna and Ryan Hendershot, and Jimmy Berga; a sister, Esther (Leonard) Miller, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Truex, both of Canton; also many nieces and nephews. Ferne will be remembered for her home-made goodies and delicious food she lovingly shared with friends, neighbors, and family. She always had home-baked cookies on hand just in case someone stopped by. Visitation will be Thursday from 2pm to 9pm at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will held Friday at 11am with Minister Jeff Rich officiating. Burial follows in Beallsville Cemetery. In keeping with Ferne's giving spirit, her family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Captina Church of Christ, c/o Casey Tolzda, PO Box 112, Beallsville, Ohio 43716.
