Fred Riley Sr. Obituary

Fred Riley, Sr., 88, of Beallsville died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Barnesville Hospital. He was born October 16, 1923 in Beallsville, a son of the late John Riley and Viola Mann Riley Taylor. He was retired from farming and North American Coal #1 Mine. Fred and his wife were also owners and operators of the former Riley's Sunoco in Beallsville. He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II, a member of American Legion Post #768; Sunsbury Lodge #362, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, and also a lifetime member of the Beallsville Sportsman's Club. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Riley; a son-in-law, Larry Brown; three grandchildren, Jay and Terry Brown, and Melissa Riley; a brother-in-law, Oscar Kress. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mary Lu West Riley; four children, Sondra Brown of Jerusalem, Fred (Karen) Riley, Jr. of Waxahachie, TX, Jack (Lisa) Riley and Richard (Phyllis) Riley, both of Beallsville; nine grandchildren, Tina (Scott) Clark, Jayda (Darrell) Baker, Bonnie Brown, Kendra Barnett, Daniel Riley, Jeremy Riley, Scott Riley, Justin (Kelly) Riley, and Cyrena (Clint) Abbott; eight great-grandchildren, Caitlin Brown, Darren (Bradli) Baker, Ryan Baker, Karlie Baker, Baylor, Brynlea, and Bronson Barnett, and Carter Abbott; two great great-granddaughters, Bryndalynn and Britton Baker; a brother, George William (Carol) Riley of Cleveland, and a sister, Beverly Kress of Twinsburg; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 AM with Minister Jeff Rich officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post #768. Masonic services will be conducted Friday at 8:45 PM at the funeral home.
