Sunday, September 4, 2011, Freda Marie Piatt, passed from her earthly physical body to a spiritual body while a patient in the Wheeling Hospital Continuous Care Center. She was born Freda M. Craig, on September 15, 1913 to her parents, Albert and Mary Kindle Craig of Woodsfield, Ohio. She was one of twelve children, all of whom have previously passed away. She was married to her husband, Rome Piatt, who preceded her in death some 25 years ago. Her only child, Donald (Mary Jane) Piatt, a retired physician, now lives in Beallsville, Ohio. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Woodsfield. For the last three years, Freda had been a patient at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehab Center after suffering multiple strokes which changed her life from an independent person to one not only requiring the love and care of her own family and friends, but also her new family at the Rehab Center. She will be sadly missed by her family, her friends, and her many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8 from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield. In lieu of flowers, Freda's family requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Woodsfield United Methodist Church, 136 North Main Street, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793 or to Cancer Gas Cards, Inc., c/o Shirley Brown, 48397 Keylor Hill Road, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793.
