George Dixon Riley, Sr., 88, of Beallsville, Ohio died Sunday, July 26, 2020 in Wheeling Hospital. He was born June 20, 1932 near Beallsville, a son of the late Frank and Myrtle Goodrich Riley. George retired from the former ORMET Corporation near Hannibal, however his love of working on the family farm remained a constant throughout the years. He attended the former Beallsville United Methodist Church and was a proud US Air Force Veteran. Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Whinery Riley whom he married on August 15, 1954; their children, George (Rio) Riley, Jr., Janice (Dale) Hall, and Bruce Riley; six grandchildren, Christopher Hall, Joey-Lynn (Timothy) Robinson, Katie Hall (Eric Timmons), Samantha Hall, Cheyenne Riley, and Sean Riley; three great-grandchildren, Riley Robinson, Georgie Robinson, and Theodora Timmons; a brother, James Riley; two sisters, Bertha Brandon and Roberta (Carl) Chadwell; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by an infant son, Allen Glen Riley and a sister, Louise Fearon. Graveside services with full Military Honors by American Legion Post 768 will be held Thursday, July 30 at 1pm in the Beallsville Cemetery where social distancing will be observed and face coverings are encouraged.
