George W. Tremblay

George W. Tremblay, 90, of Beallsville died Monday, July 7, 2014 at his home. He was born February 22, 1924 in New Bedford, MA, a son of the late Jules and Rose Dias Tremblay. George was a proud Marine Corps Veteran of WWII having served in the South Pacific. He was a retired employee of the former CONALCO plant near Hannibal, a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miltonsburg, a charter member of American Legion Post 768, a member of Tri-State Marine Club, Weirton, WV, VFW Post 5303, Beallsville Sportsmen's Club, Switzerland of Ohio Country Club, and also a member of the former 40 & 8 Club. Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Lola Burkhart Tremblay, five children, Carol (Wayne) Headings of West Liberty, Ohio, Bill (Sharon) Tremblay of Beallsville, Kathy (Bill) Rees of Beallsville, Karen (Steve) Mercer of Belmont, and Teresa (Steve) Johnson, of Beallsville; nine grandchildren, Richard Mercer, Heather (Ben) Mann, Katie (Jeff) Weber, Ryan Tremblay, Sara Headings, Jeff Headings, Steve (Chana) Johnson, Holly (Jeff) Bergman, and Aimee (Matt) Heightland; 12 great grandchildren, Brice and Kaden Mercer, Connor, Liam, and Calvin Mann, Morgan and Landon Weber, Jack Maxwell, Braden and Owen Johnson, Arleigh Bergman, and Sophie Heightland, several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Scott Mercer, also two sisters, Elsie Silva and Rene Borges. Friends and family will be received Wednesday, July 9 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 10 at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miltonsburg with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik officiating. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Ozark with full military honors. Vigil services will be held at 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Beallsville VFD Building Fund, PO Box 68, Beallsville, Ohio 43716.
