Harry Delton Shafer, 79, formerly of Beallsville, Ohio died Thursday, December 31, 2015 in the Arbors at Woodsfield. He was born October 17, 1937 near Woodsfield, Ohio, a son of the late Isaac and Verla Dougherty Shafer. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict; a retired employee of the former CONALCO plant near Hannibal, Ohio; a member of the Beallsville United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #768. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by an infant brother, Larry; a sister, Norma Jean King; also his wife, Dorothy Riley Kuhn Shafer on October 6, 2015. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Jodi Shafer of Woodsfield; a sister, Marlene (Vernon) Reusser of Massillon; three grandchildren, Coleten, Caylie, and Chloe Shafer; a step-grandson, Zachary Gillespie. Visitation will be held Monday, January 4 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 5 at 11 AM with Pastor Jean Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield with full military honors by American Legion Post #768.
