Herbert Cale Wilson, 71, of Beallsville, Ohio died Monday, May 28, 2018 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born May 29, 1946 in Quincy, near Neffs, Ohio, a son of the late Nathan and Mabel Penberthy Wilson. Herb was a proud US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era, a retired Coal Miner, and a member of American Legion Post 768. Music and sports were always a big part of Herb's life. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan; he often related to his family that some of his happiest memories included the hours he spent playing baseball with his friends on the Little League field growing up near Neffs. Herb loved playing music with his family from the time he was a young boy. Over the years he played with many different bands throughout the area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Sandy Bolon Wilson; two daughters, Shawna of Missouri and Kayla (Tom) Grim of Woodsfield; five grandchildren, including Grant and Elizabeth Grim; seven step-children, Tammy, Rusty, Joy, Joyce, David, Terri, and John; two sisters, Sue Dilly and Mindy Sayre; several step grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville from 11am until the time of the funeral services at 1pm. Burial follows in Jerusalem Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post #768.
