Hilda Secrest, 81, of Beallsville died Sunday, June 2, 2013 in Medical Park Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born October 25, 1931 in Belmont County, a daughter of the late William and Jane Marie Elceser Mullen. Hilda was a member of the East Sunsbury Baptist Church and for many years served on the Beallsville Village Council and also as a Sunsbury Twp. Poll Worker. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Carl Secrest; three children, Joan (Tom) Kirkland of Woodsfield, Joyce (Tim) Caldwell, and Marvin (Misty) Secrest, both of Beallsville; two brothers, Thomas (Helen) Mullen and John (Marcella) Mullen, both of Bridgeport; three sisters, Gladys (Henry) Fischer of Virginia, Margaret Hixenbaugh, and Helen Freeman, both of Florida; nine grandchildren, Courtney (Keith) Kresge, Christopher (Erica) Caldwell, Stephanie (Al) Novena, Steve (Anne) Kirkland, Bryan (Suzy) Kirkland, Sarah (Matt) Tippie, Dustin Kirkland, Stacia, and Dalton Secrest; and seven great grandchildren, Ethan, Haley, Ellie, Lucy, Claire, Carson, and Mya. In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by three infant siblings, Catherine Lucille, Robert Eugene, and Edwin Edward Mullen, a brother, William Mullen, also by a great grandson, Nolan James Caldwell. Visitation will be held Thursday 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville. Visitation will then be held Friday at East Sunsbury Baptist Church near Beallsville from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM. Burial follows in Beallsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Hilda's family requests that memorial contributions may be made to East Sunsbury Baptist Church Missions Program.
