Hillis Jenewein, 85, of Beallsville, Ohio, and a life-long resident of the community of New Castle in Belmont County, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in the Arbors at Woodsfield. He was born June 9, 1938 on the family farm, a son of the late Vernon Jenewein and Norma Morris Jenewein Hagan.
Hillis was a retired employee of the former CONALCO plant near Hannibal, Ohio, however in his heart and mind, he never retired from the vocation that he loved, farming. Hillis had served in the Army Reserves. He was also a member of the Cattlemen’s Association, American Legion Post 768, and Lodge 1304 Loyal Order of Moose, Barnesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Neal Jenewein. Left to honor his memory are a niece, Lisa Jenewein (Mike Monigold) and a nephew, Dale Jenewein (Brenda Craig); his life-long friend, Bill Davis, his sister-in-law and dear friend, Joan Jenewein; also several cousins, friends and neighbors with whom he loved to spend time and share stories. A special thanks is to be given to the Beamer and Fuchs families for their help and kindness that has been shown to Hillis over the years.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm where funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29 at 11am with Hillis’s good friend and neighbor, Mike Fuchs officiating. Burial will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
