Howard A. Brown, 77, of Beallsville, Ohio passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 in the Stellar Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio. He was born July 3, 1946 in West Virginia, a son of the late Alan and Donna Jean McKinney Brown.
Howard was a retired employee of the former North American Coal #6 Mine near Beallsville and a life-long farmer. He was a former Sunsbury Township Trustee, a former substitute bus driver, and also a member of the First Christian Church, Beallsville. A man of deep faith and many talents, Howard will fondly be remembered by many as, “the guy that was never too busy to help.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandy Westfall Brown; an infant son, Wade Brown; his second wife, Dora Moore Marmie Brown; siblings, Frank, Mary, Herb, and Russell Brown, also by his “Aunt Dot,” Dorothy Toland who raised and cared for Howard and his siblings from infancy into adulthood.
Left to honor his memory are his children, Howard “Sonny” (Teresa) Brown and Kelly Brown; a step-son, Brian (Donna) Marmie; grandchildren, Ashlynn Brown, Rachelle (Roger) Herrmann, Amanda Brown, Travis (Barbara) Marmie, Kari Marmie, Anissa Marmie, and Autumn Marmie; great-grandchildren, Paul, Phillip, Jayen, Joey, Blake, and Brice; siblings, Donna Stanford, Ward Brown, and Mark Brown; also many extended family members and friends.
Honoring Howard’s wishes, cremation will take place. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service Saturday, June 1 at 1:00 pm at the First Christian Church, Beallsville at which time, Howard's friend and pastor, Wayne Clark will offer words of comfort.
In keeping with Howard’s giving spirit, in lieu of flowers and keepsakes, memorial contributions may be made to the Beallsville Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 68, Beallsville, Ohio 43716.
