Irene "Granny" Bolon, 92, of Jerusalem, Ohio died Monday, May 26, 2014 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling. She was born Friday, August 19, 1921 in Jerusalem, a daughter of the late Uric "Gates" and Floy Reed Harper. Irene was a member of the Beallsville Church of Christ and an avid harness racing fan. She was the former Mayor of Jerusalem and also served on the Village Council; she was owner and operator of the former Bolon's IGA in Jerusalem, and she had been an Avon Sales representative for 25 years. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bolon, one brother, William "Billy" Harper, one granddaughter, Amy Starr, and one great granddaughter, Sarah Marie Dick. Surviving are her children, Kitty (Kenneth) Kahrig, Becky McGee, and Jenny (Jamie) Kimble, all of Jerusalem, and Benny (Darla) Bolon, and Rodney (Sally) Bolon, both of Washington, PA; nine grandchildren, Gregory (Kara) Kahrig, Angela (John) Frank, Corrina (Jim) Minger, Paula (Steven) Eikleberry, Kent McGee, Caitlyn Bolon, Rodney Paul and Kyle Bolon, and David Collins; seven great grandchildren, Spencer and Skyler Kahrig, Ethan and Evan Frank, Tracy and Trisha Eikleberry, and Heather Olszewski; two great-great grandchildren, Zofia and Helena Olszewski; a sister, Arden Ann (Roger) Jones, and her dear friend and sister-in-law, Beulah Johnson. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28 from 2 PM to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29 at 11 AM with Jeff Rich officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery. Irene's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beallsville Church of Christ, 52125 TR 134 Beallsville, Ohio 43716.
