Jack Virgil Phillips, age 70, of Cumberland, Ohio died Monday, September 23, 2019 at his home. He was born September 17, 1949 in Wheeling, West Virginia, a son of the late Virgil T. and Joan Lingo Phillips. Jack was a proud Marine Corps veteran, having served in Vietnam; he was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After serving his country as an active duty Marine, Jack worked in the Veterans Program of the Ohio Office of Workforce Development, in which he helped to secure employment for veterans after they returned to civilian life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny Phillips and Tim Phillips. Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Diana Wilson Phillips; his seven children, Dusty Phillips and his wife Krystal, Rebecca Phillips, Aaron Phillips and his wife Abby, Amanda Phillips, Amy Phillips Williams and her husband Levi, Kathrin Phillips, and Jacob Daniel Phillips; his siblings Chris Phillips and Sherril Phillips Smith; as well as six beloved grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 29 at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville from 1pm until the time of the funeral service at 2pm with LDS church branch president, Bobby King officiating. Interment follows in Jerusalem Cemetery with full military honors. After the graveside service, all in attendance are invited to a luncheon prepared and served by the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.
