James A. Howell, 80, of Jerusalem, Ohio passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio. He was born April 29, 1938 on the family farm near Beallsville, a son of the late John and Bertha Hoskinson Howell. Jim was a retired employee of the former ORMET Aluminum Corporation near Hannibal and a US Army Veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, and operating any kind of Dozer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Howell and a sister, Charlotte Miller. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Hensel Howell; a son, Larry (Susan) Howell of Shadyside and a daughter, Melody (Roy) Highman of Graysville; three grandchildren, Kevin Highman, Eric Howell, and Jody Howell; three brothers, Lester (Bernice) Howell and Darrel (Deb) Howell, both of Jerusalem, and Larry (Diane) Howell of Clarington; several nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, July 20 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21 at 11am with Wayne Clark officiating. Burial follows in Beallsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Jim's family requests that memorial contributions be made to Cancer Gas Cards, Inc., c/o Shirley Brown, 48397 Keylor Hill Road, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793.
