James Delbert Kernen, Sr.

James Delbert "Sonny" Kernen, Sr. 77, of Beallsville died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his home. He was born May 9, 1937 in Marshall County, West Virginia, a son of the late Delbert and Mary Ellen Scott Kernen. Sonny was a member of the East Sunsbury Baptist Church near Beallsville and a retired employee of the former North American Coal #5 Mine. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 54 years, Verylnn Reed Kernen, three sons, James Delbert (Kim) Kernen, Jr. and Scott Allen (Tammy) Kernen both of Beallsville, and Eric Vance (Chris) Kernen of Jerusalem; seven grandchildren, J D (Eliza), Cody (Ashley), Kala, Skylar, Dylan, Seonna and Jared; also three great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Klaira, and Quintin. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 PM with Pastor Floyd Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
