James A. Mitchell

James A. Mitchell, 88, of Park Health Care Center, St. Clairsville, formerly of Beallsville, Ohio, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born September 2, 1925 in Alexandria, Ohio, a son of the late Paul and Esther Blamer Mitchell. Jim was a retired electrician at ORMET Aluminum near Hannibal and he was US Army Veteran of WWII. He attended the United Methodist Church and he was a member of Sunsbury Lodge 362, F & AM. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Alonge Mitchell in 1985, a daughter, Debra Remo in 2011, a daughter-in-law Donna Bewley Mitchell in 1980, and a son-in-law, Chris Remo in 2011. Surviving are his children, Darlene (Keith) Norris of Beallsville, Jay Mitchell of Belmont, and Paul (Kay) Mitchell, of Barnesville; eight grandchildren, Becky, Laura, Natalie, Melissa, Anthony, Sean, Jim, and Jay; eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 8 from 5 PM until the time of the funeral service at 7 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Masonic services will be conducted at 6:30 PM. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
