Joe Louis Bell

Joe Louis Bell (named after the great fighter, Joe Louis), 71, of Beallsville passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in Barnesville Hospital after a long battle with Cancer. He was born September 9, 1941 in Barnesville, a son of he late Sherman and Katherine Lucas Bell. Joe was a retired truck driver and coal miner; he was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends; he loved his horses, his coon hounds, his guns, and Blue Grass music. Surviving are his wife, Kay Smith Bell; his children, Kelly (Diane) Bell, Angela (Brad) Frase, Clayton Shawn (Kim) Bell, Travis Bell, Heidi (Jeff) Ross, Kendra (Robert) Danehart; a step-son, Bryan (Shelly) Jones; a sister, Shirley (Gene) Ellis of Barnesville; a brother, Bernard Union of Medina; grandchildren Tammy, Renea, Lisa, and Jay Biggs, Shawna (Korey) Jurosek, Clarrissa Dugan, Tristen Bell, Kade Bell, Lillian Rose Bell, Tyler Daniels, Zana Ross, Stephanie (Tony) Sotto, Ashton (Scott) Jones, Amanda (Kevin) Arigoni, Jamie Lyn (Jerry) Andrews, Bryanna Perkins, Josalyn Danehart; great-grandchildren, Cierra, Vonnesha, China, Mahki, Jyair, Aleeyah, Anijah, Amiyah, Samari, Parker, Emily, Olivia, Brayden, Sarina, Spencer, Paisley, Samantha, Katelyn, Aiden, Anna, Rhianna, and Addison; nephews and nieces, Gina (Steve) Carvin, Carla (Tim) Clark, Rusty (Glenda) Ellis, great nieces and nephews, Genna Clark, Charlie Clark, Amy (Carvin) Bliss, Casey Carvin, Monica (Chris) Frye, Brittney Williams; close friends, Dick and Carol Carpenter and family, Scott and Amy Jackson and family, Bruce "Wolfy" and Dorothy Gander, Tracy and Melissa Otto, Donnie Guy, Bob Hutchison, and Fred McLaughlin; also the mother of five of his children, Virginia Myers Bell. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett Charles Bell. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 PM with Pastor Tina Gallaher officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
