John Harvey Huffman, Sr. 90, of Jerusalem, OH died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at his home. He was born September 7, 1922 near Paden City, WV, a son of the late Clyde and Joanna Slider Huffman. He was a retired employee of the Monroe County Engineers and a member of the Bush Church of Christ near Malaga. John was a US Army Veteran of WWII, a member of American Legion Post 768, and VFW Post 5303; he was a true veteran. Surviving are seven children, Janet, John, Jr. (Sharon), Jeff, Joey, Jay (Teri), all of Jerusalem, Jannell (John) of Dublin, and Joetta (Danny) Slusser of Massillon, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Huffman of Clarington; six grandchildren, John III, Shannon, Richard, Chad, Erica, Shasta; nine great grandchildren, Rikki, Remi, Renzi, Jaycee May, Payton, Parker, Mason, Hank, and Wyatt. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, May Brownfield Huffman; two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held Saturday 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 PM with Minister Kim McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, John's family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice Service, 52171 National Road, East, Suite 1, St. Clairsville, OH 43950.
