Joseph Erchak Obituary

Joseph L. Erchak, 51, of Beallsville, Ohio died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Joe was born July 11, 1965 in Barnesville; he was a lifelong and beloved member of the Beallsville Community. He was an extremely positive and joyful soul. He did not know a stranger and never forgot a face. He worked as a carrier for The Times Leader for over 25 years and had his own lawn mowing service. Joe took enormous pride in his work and his independence, despite being diagnosed with autism. He had a passion for building model cars and trucks, and proudly displayed hundreds of them in his home. Although Joe never had children of his own, his great nephew, Rocco, and his great nieces, Gianna, Paisley, and Jessie were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Erchak and Marlene Cey, and one brother, Mark Erchak. Surviving are his beloved sister, Bridget (Ray) Swallie; his niece, Rayme (Carl) Speck, and their children Gianna and Rocco, his nephew, Rhett (Jaime) Swallie, and their daughters, Paisley and Jessie; his brother Mark's sons, Nicholas (Teri) Erchak, Antony Erchak, Alex Erchak, and Darien Erchak; his brother, John Erchak, and his sister, Babbette (Steve) McDougal, and their four children. To celebrate Joe's life, a gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, May 13 at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville, beginning at 5pm and concluding with a time of remembrance at 8pm with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik presiding. Joe's family invites you to join with them as they honor his memory by sharing your memories. In keeping with his giving spirit, it is requested that rather than acknowledgements of flowers and keepsakes, memorial contributions be made to help others by donating to "Autism Speaks," 1060 State Road, Second Floor, Princeton, New Jersey 08540, or by donating blood to the American Red Cross, as Joe was a proud blood donor himself.
