Leona Mae Carpenter Brown, 91, of Jerusalem, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Barnesville Hospital. She was born on May 23, 1931 in Summerfield, Ohio, a daughter of the late Odie and Ocie Carpenter. Leona was a graduate of Summerfield High School, Class of 1949. She married Robert F. Brown on June 18, 1949 and together they raised four boys, Gary, David, Mike, and Tim.
Leona was a loving mother and homemaker and cherished her family above all else. In her early days she enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning and had been known to work alongside the men in the fields.
In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by sons, Gary, David, and Mike, also a grandson, Terry. Surviving are her husband of 73 years, Bob; her son, Tim Brown (Amy Long); two daughters-in-law, Alice Brown and Mary Brown; 11 grandchildren, Jimmy (Teresa) Brown; Teresa (Ernie) Cook, Travis (Alissa) Brown, Amy Coakley, Tyler (Alyson) Brown, Ashley (Courtney) Gummer, Lance (Ashley) Brown, Derek (Chelsea) Brown; Shania, Dakota, and Makenna Phillips; 32 great-grandchildren, Tessie (Andrew), Levi (Rachel), Garrett (Alyssa), Wyatt (Rileigh), Taylor, McKenna, Logan, Brody, Leanne, Matthew, Kristin, Kenlee, Klay, M.J., Luke, Madison, Ally, Brantley, Cameron, Journey, Brynlee, Brittyn, Lochlyn, Malik, Jazzlyn, Trevon, Aubri, Leland, Bryce, Kallie, Kade, Bexlee; 12 great great-grandchildren, Kyleanne, Andrew, Raelyn, Addisyn, Jameson, Colt, Waylon, Wesley, Gentry, Dezmond, Kinzley, Paizley; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marlin and Evelena Brown.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, June 14, from 6pm to 8pm at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where a time of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, June 15th at 11am. Family and friends will be invited to honor Leona's memory by sharing their memories.
Interment and committal service will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery.
