Lola Tremblay, 93, of Beallsville, Ohio, died Friday, April 14, 2017 in Barnesville Hospital. She was born March 1, 1924 in Ozark, Ohio, a daughter of the late Otto A. and Kate Klug Burkhart. Lola was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, near Miltonsburg, a Charter member of American Legion Post 768 Auxiliary, the Tri-State Marine Club Auxiliary, Weirton, WV, also over the years she served as financial clerk for various local organizations. She was retired from the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District where she first worked as Secretary in the Beallsville schools and then as Clerk/Treasurer for the Switzerland of Ohio Local Board of Education. After her retirement, she was elected to the Board of Education. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George on July 7, 2014; a grandson, Timothy Scott Mercer; two brothers, Robert and Nestor Burkhart; a son-in-law, Bill Rees. Left to mourn her passing are five children, Carol (Wayne) Headings of West Liberty, Ohio, Bill (Sharon) Tremblay of Beallsville, Kathy Rees of Beallsville, Karen (Steve) Mercer of Belmont, and Teresa (Steve) Johnson of Beallsville; two sisters, Rita Langevin of New Jersey, and Mary Catherine (Paul) Farley of Hudson, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Richard Mercer, Heather (Ben) Mann, Katie (Jeff) Weber, Ryan Tremblay, Sara Headings, Jeff (April) Headings, Steve (Chana) Johnson, Holly (Jeff) Bergman, and Aimee (Matt) Heightland; 14 great-grandchildren, Brice and Kaden Mercer, Connor, Liam, and Calvin Mann, Morgan and Landon Weber, Jack Maxwell, Braden and Owen Johnson, Arleigh and George Bergman, and Sophie and Graydon Heightland; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 18 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville with Vigil Services to begin at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday at 12 noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miltonsburg with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik presiding. Interment follows in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, near Ozark. In keeping with Lola's giving spirit, her family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Beallsville VFD, PO Box 68, Beallsville, Ohio 43716.
