Mark Alan Mellott, 51, of Cambridge, Ohio, formerly of Beallsville, Ohio, passed away at his home on Friday, September 29, 2023. He was born March 16, 1972 in Barnesville, Ohio a son of Betty Jo "BJ" Couture Mellott and the late Herman Mellott.
Mark was an Intermediate EMT, served in the Air Force, and attended the Police Academy. He had been a fire-fighter traveling with a team to put out forest fires, once spending over three weeks in Montana fighting fires. He also was the owner of a taxi service. A kind man who never met a stranger, Mark had many talents and diverse interests. He was a genealogist, a history buff, a farmer; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering with leather. He was an avid collector of many different things and he was a Big Foot believer. But his greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his mother, Betty Jo "BJ" Mellott, left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Amy Mellott; four children, Ethan Mellott, Caleb Mellott, Erin Mellott, and Ashley Mellott; five step-children, Nathan, Alice, Asher, Reuben, and Janet Brown; a brother, Mikel Mellott; his best friend, Norman Pennekamp; also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel, Beallsville, Wednesday, October 4 from 2pm until the time of the funeral service at 6pm with Brother Tim Kemp officiating. Full Military Honors by American Legion Post 768 of Beallsville will be presented at the funeral home just prior to Brother Kemp's message.
