Mildred Schnegg Obituary

Mildred V. Schnegg of Woodsfield and formerly Cochran Hill, Clarington, Ohio died Wednesday, January 15, 2020. She was born September 20, 1928 in Marion, Ohio, a daughter of the late Howard and Thirza Lapp McDougal. Mildred was a 1946 graduate of Clarington High School. She was a homemaker, an avid quilter, and served as a 4-H Advisor. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Powhatan and their Women's Guild; Clarington Chapter 533, OES; Clarinda & Illdreth Rebekah Lodges; Monroe County Homemaker's Council, United Methodist WSCS, and Zion Cemetery Association. In her younger days, Mildred helped to take care of many children and then helped and did housekeeping for many elderly friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Velma Vanest McDougal; a sister, Esther Riley, a great-granddaughter, Jenny Lynn Dietrich, and a brother, David McDougal. Surviving are her husband of 70 years, George L. Schnegg, Jr,; children Marsha and Rod Leasure of Marietta, Sandra and Harold Dietrich of Clarington, Kathie and Glenn Darrah of Woodsfield, Debra and Bryan McDonald of Corona del Mar, California, and Sam Schnegg and friend, Heather Persinger of Clarington; four grandchildren, Casey Dietrich of Clarington, Keith and Tina Rothenbuhler Dietrich of Soddy Daisy, TN, Derek and Kari Taylor Dietrich of Clarington, and Jeff and Valerie Randolph Dietrich of Marietta; six great-grandchildren, Jacey Dietrich, Alice Jo Dietrich, Isaac Dietrich, Eve Dietrich, Ethan Dietrich, and Zackary Dietrich; three sisters, Doris Miller of California, Stella (Dale) Forni of Dundee, Ohio, Ruth Allen of Woodsfield; a brother, Dean (Pat) McDougal of Florida; a brother-in-law, James Riley of California; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends will be received at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville on Saturday, January 18 from 4pm to 8pm. Eastern Star services conducted by Clarington Chapter 533, OES will be observed Saturday at the funeral home at 6pm followed by Rebekah Lodge services conducted by Clarinda & Illdreth Rebekah Lodges at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 19 at 1pm with Rev. Wendy Erb officiating. Interment in Zion Cemetery will be at a time chosen by the family.
