Phyllis Marie Huffman Wells, 82, of Malaga went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 21, 2013 as she was surrounded by her loving family in the East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio. She was born May 10, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Phillip and Marie Wilson Huffman. Phyllis was a retired employee of Ohio University Eastern in St. Clairsville, Ohio, a member of the Armstrong Mills United Methodist Church and OES #24. Although in recent years she lived a very quiet life while enjoying the company of her family and listening to country music, her earlier years were spent enjoying many types of activities such as swimming, scuba diving, and traveling. Phyllis was ever the advocate for education and life-long learning. Surviving are her daughter, Julie (Tom) Myers of Malaga and her son, Steve (Marcia) Wells of Alledonia; four grandchildren, Amy (Ken) Edmunds, April (Dirk) Glotfelty, Arica (Shaun) Ady, and Ryan Wells; nine great grandchildren, Johnny Smith, Will, Kole, and Hank Edmunds, Dylan and Brynlie Glotfelty, Abygail and Elyzabeth Ady, and Kaylee Wells; one great great granddaughter, Madison Smith; also several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a grandson, Troy Wells; an infant granddaughter, Amber Myers; an infant great grandson, Luke Edmunds; two brothers, William Huffman and Byron Huffman; two sisters, Mildred Kendall and Mary George. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where visitation will then be held Thursday from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM with Pastor Rusty Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Armstrong Mills United Methodist Church, c/o 56014 Brands Run Street, Alledonia, OH 43902.
