Ralph Kinney Obituary

Ralph Kinney, 72, of Jerusalem, Ohio died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at his home after a three year fight with cancer. He was born April 3, 1938 near New Castle, Ohio, a son of the late Harry and Mary Zurcher Kinney. He had previously been employed by General Telephone, Hoosier Engineering, and Hinkle-McCoy, but because of his life-long love of farming, he never retired and he farmed as long as his health permitted. Ralph attended the Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rock Hill Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Belmont Grange; a member of the Monroe County 4-H Sale Committee, and he had been a 4-H advisor for many years . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joe; a grandson, Jonathan; and a brother, Charles. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Miriam Giffin Kinney; his children, Bob (Cheryl) Kinney of Summerfield, Cecil Kinney of Beallsville, Richard (Dyann) Kinney, and Brian "BJ" (Nicole) Kinney, all of Jerusalem, Donna (Joe) Baker of Somerton and Patti Heath of Beallsville; three sisters, Wanda (Bill) Thomas and Jenny (Arlen) Phillips, both of Apple Creek and Phyllis (Mick) Phillips of Flushing; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 15 from noon until 3 PM and from 6 until 8 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services will be held Monday, August 16 at 1 PM with Pastor Tina Gallaher and Rusty Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
