Ray John Ady, Sr., 68, a resident of Smithville Ohio and formerly of Monroe County died Saturday morning July 7, 2018 at his home surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. Ray was born on Atkinson Run Road in Monroe County on September 28,1949 a son of the late Milton and Stella Vanness Ady. Ray was a welder for the former Orrville Products Company. He enjoyed gardening, canning fresh vegetables from his garden, fishing, and spending time with family. Ray had a big sense of humor and an even bigger heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy; two nieces Brenda and Chestin; a nephew RJ. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife of 48 years, Phyllis Palmer Ady; three sons, Ray Ady, Jr. (Pam Treichler) of Barnesville, Charles Ady (Maria Allen) of Denver, Colorado, Mark (Kathleen) Ady of Smithville; one daughter, Melissa (Jon) Mast of Orrville; two brothers, Chester (Hazel) and Sam (June); three sisters, Helen (Rick), Nina (Jim), and Rose; 10 grandchildren, Jared, Travis, Jessica, Cole, James, Lauryn, Jonathan, Jaden, Niki, and Amber; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jaylee. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 10 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville. Interment will follow in Cameron Cemetery, Cameron, Ohio.
