Robert Cruise Obituary

Robert “Bob” C. Cruise, 73, of Alledonia, Ohio passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 in Oakland V.A. Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Born June 19, 1948 to the late Carl and Barbara Taylor Cruise, Bob was preceded in death by siblings William (Billy) Cruise and Stephanie Cruise. 

Bob was a proud US Army Veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam.  He worked at North American Coal Mine for many years and had various other jobs after his retirement. 

A member of American Legion Post 768, Bob will be remembered as a loving husband and father, “Pappy,” brother, and Uncle.  He enjoyed attending sporting events to watch his grandchildren play and taking them fishing and boating.  His grandkids were his life’s motivation. 

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Pamela Hornbeck Cruise, son Lonnie (Loretta) Cruise of Bellaire,  daughters Kimberly (Brian) Hawthorne of Alledonia, Heather (Jason) Dornon of Bethesda; grandchildren Taylor Dilly, Cody, Dale, and Alie Hawthorne, Kellen, Kennedy, and Kasslyn Dornon, step-grandchildren Amber, Lisa, Stacey, Bettie, Lydia, and Alex; siblings Carl (Lois) Cruise of Bellaire, Terry (Sharon) Cruise of Belmont, Barbara A. (Phillip) Evers of Milford, Brenda (Johnny) Rushman of Bellaire, and Tina Kemp-Staley of Mingo Junction.  

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, however, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
