Ruth H. Baldwin, 92, of Woodsfield, Ohio and formerly of the Beallsville area, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 while a resident of Westwood Place. She was born August 9, 1928 in Monroe County, a daughter of the late Austin and Mae Kimpel Ebert.
Ruth will be remembered for her artistic talents, especially with fabrics. She could create beautiful pictures by using fabric instead of paints or her "Her Coats of Many Colors." She so enjoyed the years with the New Castle Homemakers and their annual quilting "bees" and Cake Walks. She leaves behind many quilts and pictures to be appreciated by the family. Tending to her flower and vegetable gardens brought her much enjoyment. She found relaxation in her walks for exercise to take in the great outdoors. Feeding the birds in the winter months brought sunshine when the days were dark and dreary. She was an avid reader and instilled the love of books in her children. For many years, she and her husband, Emanuel, donated their time at the Manna Food Pantry. This gave them a feeling of "being needed" in their older years.
After 74 years of marriage, Emanuel left this world for a better place on January 21, 2021. He needed to have Ruth with him and she knew that. She probably saw no reason to linger on alone. After a separation of just over a week, they are together again. Memories will hold the family close.
Surviving from this relationship are three children, Gary (Barbara) Baldwin of Loveland, Sharon (Jim) Barrows of Woodsfield, Linda (Rick) Hagan of Jerusalem; six grandchildren, Dusty Barrows, Scott (Amanda) Hagan, Danae Barrows, Charity (Ramon) Antunez, Chelsea (Ron) Nowakowski, and Stacie Baldwin; also seven great-grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by brothers Don (Carolyn) Ebert and Vernie (Thelma) Ebert of the Jerusalem area; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Harold (Marge) Ebert of Canton. Her sister, Betty (Edwin) Datkuliak passed away December 25, 2020. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church, Beallsville where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She leaves behind many friends.
Private services will be held at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery on Cain Ridge, Clarington. In keeping with Ruth and Emanuel's spirit of helping others, their family requests that in lieu of flowers and keepsakes, contributions be made to Cancer Gas Cards, Inc., c/o Shirley Brown, 48397 Keylor Hill Road, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793.
