Ruth L. Meade

Ruth Meade, 63, of the Miltonsburg Community passed away at her home on Saturday, December 24, 2016 after a lengthy illness. She was born June 11,1953 in Lodi, Ohio, a daughter of Alma High Pittman and the late Vernon Pittman. Previously she was married to Carl Vanness of Beallsville, with whom she had three children, Lowell, Kristi, and the late Stacy Vanness. She later married Gary Britton of Beallsville for a short time. Years later she made her home in Miltonsburg with Dewey Meade and his children, Cheryl, Larry, Tammy, Tina, Rick, Brian, Amy, and Virginia. After Dewey's death, she began to rebuild her home with her companion, Delbert Hess and his daughter, Marsha (Brian) Dunn of Jerusalem. Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, camping, working in her flower garden, baking goodies and making crafts for her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Dewey Meade; a daughter, Stacy Vanness; her father, Vernon Pittman; her grandfather, Russell High; and a brother, Ed Pittman. Left to mourn her passing are her mother, Alma Pittman of Beallsville; her children, Kristi (Jeff) Holiday of Creston, Ohio and Lowell (Channon) Vanness of Beallsville; three sisters, Carol Garens (Willet Ball) of Rittman, Ohio, Rita (Loren) McCammon of Woodsfield,Ohio and Deborah Lauinger of Creston, Ohio; two brothers, Charles Pittman (Darlene Winland) of Quaker City, Ohio, and Leonard (Vonna) Pittman of Beallsville; a sister-in-law, Jan Pittman of Wooster, Ohio; also many grandchildren including her pride-and-joys, Stacy Vanness of Lower Salem, Ohio, Tiara Vanness and Brooke Holiday of Creston, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Ruth was a loving person who will be greatly missed and treasured always. Visitation will be held Wednesday at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville from 5 PM until 8 PM where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM. Burial follows in Beallsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ruth's family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Harper Funeral Home, PO Box 250, Beallsville, Ohio 43716, to help with expenses.
