Ruth M. Paine, 97, of Beallsville, died Monday, February 9, 2015 in the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield. She was born December 17, 1917 in Alledonia, Ohio, a daughter of the late C. Otto and Floy Caldwell Mowder. After teaching for many years, Ruth began her second career, working for the Ohio State University Extension Service as a Home Extension Agent. She was a member of the Beallsville United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Philodendron Twig of Barnesville Hospital, Rolling Hills Ruritan Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and she was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Ruth was a 75 year member (and long-time organist) of Beallsville Chapter #24, Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman. Surviving are a son, Charles of Beallsville; a brother, John (Donna) Mowder of Westerville; two nephews, Larry (Ann) Paine and Frank Paine; also two nieces, Jane Mowder and Susan Mowder. Friends and family will be received Thursday from 3 PM to 7 PM at the Harper Funeral Home, 52728 Ohio Avenue, Beallsville. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 AM at the Beallsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Jean Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield. Eastern Star services will be conducted Thursday at 7 PM at the funeral home.
