Stephen “Steve” Skonecy, 67, of Barnesville, Ohio died Tuesday, December 14, 2021 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born April 22, 1954 in Worcester, Massachusetts, a son of the late Edmund Skonieczny and Marjorie Harris.
Steve was a proud US Navy Veteran and a retired auto body repairman having worked for many years at LKQ and Whiteside’s of Cambridge. Steve never met a stranger and was truly loved by everyone who met him. He touched many lives in his 67 years by his kindness; he will be remembered for having spent his entire life encouraging others. His love of children, animals, and plants was second only to the love he had for his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his fiancee, Penny Shepherd; sons, Michael Skonecy and his wife, Missy, Timothy Skonecy, Cody Skonecy and his wife, Michelle; daughters, Crystal Gallagher and her husband, James, and Alisha Endsley and her husband, Corey; a step-daughter, Amber Shepherd-Smith and her husband, Jason; grandchildren, Christopher, Khloe, Kaylee, Marlee, Mila, and Oliver; one brother and two sisters.
Friends and family will be received at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville Sunday, December 19 from 1pm until the time of the funeral service at 3pm with Pastor Jake Steele officiating. Full military honors by American Legion Post #768 will be held at the funeral home just prior to the beginning of the funeral service.
